After 3 and a half years of single battle series locally in over 20 countries, we have decided to try something different and potentially more exciting for 2010... Introducing the European Warriors series!

"When we started Secret Wars 3 years ago, it was influenced heavily by various things from the Marvel comic, to Warriors and Fight Club. After experiencing the team battles around the World and seeing the benefits of this compared to the singles battles, we decided on trying it as a complete 6-8 month series!"

"I have noticed the crowds are more vocal and patriotic towards team battles - there seems to be more at stake and I love watching the artists free-styling alongside each other.... You never know what will come out the other end!"
Terry Guy (Founder of Monorex and Secret Wars)

The rules are the same but the structure of the competition and dynamics of the battle are slightly different - see below for details.

How the competition will work & when

There will be 8-10 teams/cities involved in next years competition, and each city will select 6 artists to part of a squad. Each team will select 2-3 wildcard entries consisting of previous champs and general bad boys! The remaining members will be picked at the local qualifiers.

City selection events - November / December 09 (Check Secret Wars website for dates)
  • Each city will call out and actively invite people down to jam and show off their skills
  • Draw will take place to decide what team is which group (A or B)
1st Round - Group league qualifiers
  • Two groups of 4-5 teams with the top two teams qualifying
  • Rather than a knockout cup comp, we have decided to make this a little more interesting and maybe fairer - Each game will be a league match with each judge vote and crowd vote worth a point!
  • Each team will play home and away against the others in their group
Semi finals

With the top two teams going through from each group, we will be left with 4 teams.

The winner of GROUP A will play the 2nd place of GROUP B and the winner of GROUP B will play the runners up of GROUP A.

These will also be home and away ties - with the winning team decided on total points earned over the two games. If the points are level than it will be decided by the team who gets the most away points.

This will be hosted at a neutral venue, TBC nearer the time

More info to be announced! watch this space

  • London
  • Dublin
  • Southampton

Secret Wars @ Möllevångsfestivalen, Malmö - CANCELLED!

What happened?!

On Friday night, with everything ready for the highly anticipated OSSIAN vs. S.I.C -show battle and the kids-try-it-yourself-corner, everyone in the Malmö crew went to the Smutsiga Södern party.....NOT KNOWING that at the very same time the Carnival part of the Möllevångs festival were busy breaking the freshly painted and expertly carpentered battle boards and using them to build a stage floor!?!?!?!

Looks good eh?!

We're not saying the responsible will sleep with the fishes or anything...lets just say we made new useful connections at the festival:

Thanks to Andreas, Hanna and everyone who was planning on coming out and taking part! See you soon!

Its all over!

What a crazy night! 700 people gathered out by the sea to watch the grand Secret Wars Malmö final and dance until the sun came back up.

Both teams were hampered by a dusty board but still managed to blast some killer artwork. Got to take the forces of nature into consideration when battling outdoors..

Ebony and Ivory's clever piece had the guys themselves skinning one of their opponents and forcing the other to make shoes out of the skin. Team SICTU also chose to depict all four finalists.. LIMPO drew himself as a Godzilla character, climbing the Turning Torso whilst carrying Georg, and with S.I.C about to castrate him.

Judge 1 - Jimmy Wallin, comic book artist: SICTU

Crowd's vote: SICTU

Judge 2 - Felipe Villagran, artist: SICTU

3-0 to SICTU!!

Well done all artists. A tough battle that was very enjoyable to watch.

After the champions were crowned the party kicked off for real! First party people arrived at 21:00 and the last people left at 06:30. The sunrise was amazing and the five djs went through every music style its possible to dance to. Truly a great night!
This concludes the 2009 team tournament...but stay tuned cus Secret Wars and Smutsiga Södern will be back sooner than you think!

Big Thanks to Fredrik, Viktor, Filip, Morgan, Karin, Sebastian, The DJs: Fructoso Diiyay, Rome, Rob Love, Hud, akai One, Reebok, Impala and everyone who came out and helped us close this Secret Wars season in style!

MashUp Success

The Secret Wars Freestyle MashUp at Studio Seved turned out very nicely indeed!

Around 70 people turned up in Sofielund to watch live art, buy raffle tickets and take part in the auction.

The seven artists created twelve collaboration pieces, each one crazier than the other.
The auction was an exciting affair with the bids bouncing off the gallery walls like rubber bullets.
In the end all the art found new happy homes.. Thanks to Vladimir, Fredde, Ida, Andreas, Markus, Daniel and especially Niklas for turning their wallets inside out - All money was split evenly between the artists!

Featured artists: Ossian, S.I.C, Georg, Pistolina, Ekwe, Ikkyro and LIMPO

Thanks to Studio Seved, Edding for supplying pens and all who attended!

Secret Wars Malmö went clubbing and it was a night to remember..

Kajplats, every teenager in the mid 90's favourite joint, was the venue of choice. Nostalgic but also very suitable, located right in the middle of Malmö's old dockyard. The official body count landed on 764 people through the door and the atmosphere was electric when artists Ossian, NEZ, LIMPO and S.I.C took to the stage. Rob Love and dj Babydoll pumped the music while the two teams fought out one of the toughest battles to date.

After 90 minutes of splashing ink it was all up to the crowd and the two judges..
Crowd's Vote: The crowd went mental for team SICTU and wouldnt stop screaming!

Kathrine, a.k.a Mami, Danish all-in-one-deluxe: Studio Seved Masta Chillaz

Kristoffer: SICTU

SICTU vs. Studio Seved Masta Chillaz 2-1

So the clean style of SSMC was beaten by SICTU's more dynamic composition. Time to look forward to the Grand Final on the 6th of June!

A very big thanks to: Studentkåren Malmö, Lina, the DJs, the judges, Diego, Elvan, Yes-man, Edding, everyone else who helped out and of course everyone who showed up and helped us to partyyy!!

What a blast!!

Secret Wars is definitely back 2009 with a serious vengeance!
Mad party with over a 1000 people through the door and a very exciting battle between two teams that really went for each other!

Critically acclaimed comic book artists El Granero & Karolina the Cowgirl went blow for blow with the laid back duo of Ekwe & Georg, a heavy metal bass player and a fine art painter (who didn't even know each other a week ago!?)
The battle was hard fought with visual punches flying back and forth across the board.
When it was time to decide a winner it felt like it could go either way..

Crowd's Vote: The more polished artwork of Ekwe & Georg turned out to be the crowd's favourite.

Judge 1 - Simon Silfverberg, artist and designer: Ekwe & Georg -"It was close!"

Judge 2 - Lina Hedman, head of Malmö Uni's student union: Ekwe & GeorgSo 3-0 to Ekwe & Georg who will contest the Grand Final on the 6th of June. We will find out who their opponents will be on the 16th May..

After the battle the party continued in true Secret Wars spirit until 6 in the morning when the bar ran out of beer for the second time! DJs Simón de la Onda, akai one and Romme did a world tour of music styles and had the dance floor jumping for eight hours straight!
The police stopped by at one point (and liked what they saw!). Max Peezay (!) swung by for a energy filled guest app and Swedish folk hero Timbuktu also had a little fiddle with the mic.
Amazing night!
Thanks and see you in two weeks - 16th May y'alllllll!!!!

Special thanks to...The four brave artists, the three DJs, the two judges, Viktor, Rob Love, Micke, Sonny, Edding and Max Peezay/AllOutDubstep - Big Up!
